Major Juliette Robinson In Germany

Just FYI--I'm presently deployed to Germany in Support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. This is the reason I have not been to a meeting lately. Thanks for sending info. Tell everyone I said hello. I'll see you all when I return.
Take care

Builders Group Forming

In the September issue I suggested that some of the Chapter members may want to start a builder's group around a certain design, use of materials, etc. The first such effort is now under way. Our famous local designer Mark Brown is exploring the possibility of forming a group to build one or more "Starlites." (sp)

As most of you know this was the single place design that Mark later evolved into his two-place Pulsar. Mark still has all the drawings and molds and maybe a few other things. He also knows all the vendor sources and a bulk buy would put everyone in the air a little cheaper than a solo effort. This design is a real jewel. It is carefully controlled through a pre-preg process and performance on a very small engine is phenominal. It would be a good project and an economical one for someone who is anxious to get in the air. With Mark serving as the guru a person would have world class advice readily at hand. Give Mark a call if
you are interested. Phone 210-496-0915.

From my perspective I would not call Mark unless you are really serious and about ready to move out. He needs to spend his time with those who will spend their time building rather that talking.

Way to go Mark! Thanks for leading this worthwhile effort. I would really like to see a squadron of those little birds buzzing around our airport and outrunning the C-172s.

John Latour to the Rescue

At our Pancake Breakfast, several Chapter 35 members noticed that one of the clubhouse windows was broken. Within a couple of days, John had installed a new window, and then insisted that he would donate the costs to the chapter.

John, like many in our fine group, simply fixes things that are broken. Thanks, John, and thanks to all of you who pitch in!

Terry Winnett in England

Yo, Dave,

Made it to England without any problems. Going to like it here. We're happy to be together again. Got the address for your buddy here, so I'll get a hold of her after we've settled in.

Didn't get the lights out of the garage before I left, but if you approach my former landlords that live next door, I'm sure they'll let you take them out
for me.

My neighborhood will be getting BT broadband in mid-October, so we'll be set there... that'll be about the time I get my computer by snail mail. I'll
definitely let you know when I do get it. How are things there? Getting any work done on any of the assorted aircraft there? How's the A&P course so far?

Ahhhh, nothing like the sounds of F-15's in full afterburner around here. I think you'd like it. Already saw Frank and he's ready to help my build on
my Cozy... guess he's a bit bored over here. So much the better for me.
Let me know if you need anything from here. I'll catch you later... take care and say "Hi" to Miriam and the EAA35 gang for me.

Terry

P.S. Really like the electronic format of the newsletter.

Louie's Rescuers Attend Picnic

When Louie Viggiano had engine trouble with his Champ and ended up unceremoniously in the midst of a dangerous wild animal refuge, two young ladies, Mary and Michelle Reininger, sisters who work and live on that remote and secured property, were the first on the scene. They didn’t have far to come—less than 100 yards, I believe.

Well, these two good Samaritans did everything possible for Louie and his young passenger, and were directly responsible for getting the EMS team to the site ASAP. Louis is grateful, Arlis is grateful, and we all are grateful.

I had promised these young ladies an airplane ride if they would attend our September affair, and so they did—and even brought their 16-year old sister, Megan along, who became a Young Eagle! Well, Chapter 35 supporter Ron Paduh to the rescue. He readily agreed to get brother Joe’s Bonanza out, and took the three young ladies on an hour-long tour of our area, including Louie’s Champ arrival site. They were completely thrilled!

Thank you Ron, for helping me keep a promise.

Kris Kilmer in Iraq

Hi All,

Here are a few more pictures from Tallil AB in Iraq. Enjoy!
Things are getting fairly routine here, working 12 hrs a day (on Alert) and going to Chow, reading, doing wash and getting some sleep. One day is pretty much like the last and next.

Looking to be back home around the 20th of Oct.

Take Care and I'll do the same,

Kris Kilmer

Announcements (continued)

Charter Members

At the last pancake breakfast, Harlan mentioned that he thinks that he may be the only surviving original charter member of EAA Chapter 35. Anybody know of anyone else??

The charter that is hanging on the wall is actually the second one draw up for the chapter.

Lost and Found

Found: one pair of prescription glasses after the September meeting. This meeting was the one with Dick Cole. If you can’t see any longer, maybe you are the one missing these specs. They are located at the chapter house.

Catalogs

Big Dave Talley has done it again. He’s arranged for Wicks Aircaft and Terminal Supply Company to ship some of their catalogs to EAA Chapter 35. These catalogs are great for a reference. You can look up what you need and then head over to our advertisers and get your items locally.

They are located at the chapter house, so next time you are there, be sure to pick up one of each.

Dave is thinking of contacting Aircraft Spruce for a couple of boxes of their catalogs. Let him know if you need one.

This, of course, is because we are a “building” chapter, and building chapters need to get their supplies.

So build on, EAAers, build on….

Power Computer Tips

One of the essential skills needed to edit the newsletter is copy and paste. Did you know that you can copy text from virtually any Windows document including web pages and e-mail and paste it into your own document? It’s easy to do and works with virtually any Windows application. First, you highlight the text you want to copy by left clicking and dragging over the text. Then you press Ctrl and the letter C on your keyboard and this copies the text temporarily to Windows Clipboard. Now click on the document that you’re working with and press Ctrl and the letter: V and viola, there’s your copied text in your document. This works just as well with pictures. This is a skill you will use over and over again, because it works with most Windows applications including file management utilities like Windows Explorer. kgn
