Want to be a Member of Chapter 35?

Membership in the international organization known as the Experimental Aircraft Association offers many benefits. Worth the entire annual fee of $40.00 is the monthly flagship magazine Sport Aviation, but other worthwhile benefits are also valuable. Our EAA lobbyist in Washington is constantly weighing in on our behalf, both with the FAA and congressional committees. Our freedom to fly almost unrestricted is certainly partly due to these efforts. And if you’ve been keeping up with the new Light Sport Aircraft and Sport Pilot initiatives, well, these sparkling programs are solely due to EAA’s national effort.

After becoming a national member, the core of most sport aircraft activities truly center around and in the nearly 1000 EAA Chapters. Our own San Antonio area Chapter is home to over 160 active EAA’ers, and owns its own beautiful clubhouse located on San Geronimo Airpark just six miles west of the city.

EAA Chapter 35 holds meetings on the 2nd Saturday of each month, and ordinarily starts the evening off with a light supper at 5:30 with donations accepted. And, promptly at 7:00 PM we have a few announcements and then turn the evening over to a featured speaker. Guest presenters have included home-builders of aircraft, astronauts, famous pilots, and on and on. We do hold picnics and pancake breakfasts several times a year, and these replace the evening meetings in those months. Just keep checking our website or call any officer or board member to be sure of any given month’s activity.

You are cordially invited to be a guest at any of our activities, and you will be made to feel welcome. Or, for only $24.00 a year, you may join the chapter and get to know a really fine group of people. You will receive our extensive chapter roster, which gives lots of information about each member so that you can contact those that have interests similar to yours. Every Chapter 35 member stands ready to help you in any way possible.

EAA Chapter 35 provides free flights to youngsters age 7 to 17 several times a year—the famous Young Eagle program. We also are mentoring and assisting a group of high school youth in building an actual aircraft at nearby Warren High School; we conduct ground school classes from time-to-time; and we provide a scholarship to send one outstanding youngster to our national Air Academy summer camp each year. We are, in short, a dynamic part of the sport aviation scene in the San Antonio area.
